The Day of Battling Tiles (闘牌の日 Tōhai no Hi) is the fourth episode of the Kamisama ni Natta Hi anime series.
Plot[]
Hiroto tirelessly tries to find a shred of information on his target Shuichiro Korogi, but all of his leads end up as dead ends. Raita then informs Hiroto that the CEO has managed to schedule an interview with the co-author of the thesis their target wrote named Dr. Asama. By hacking into the camera used in the interview, Hiroto is able to eavesdrop on the conversation between the two people. The thesis surprisingly enough was about love along with happiness and how to quantify it, however, that was impossible. As to why he wanted to achieve such a thing, it's speculated that he did it for someone in his family.
At the Narukami residence, Youta watches an a TV interview of a celebrity lawyer by the name of Kako. Hina enters the scene and notices that Youta is enamored with the woman the TV. When asked about her, he details how his great impression and liking for her. Afterward, seemingly innocently playing a game of Mahjong on the computer, Hina in truth was playing under Youta's name and has set him up to play in an upcoming tournament. As it so happens Kako organized the mahjong tournament even though, Youta doesn't have any experience whatsoever playing mahjong.
The following day, Ashura and Kyouko meet up with Youta in front of his house to cheer him on. Also, the suit that Youta was wearing belonged to his father, to which, he was only "borrowing" for the day. Before the tournament begins, Kako speaks with the players before hand and wishes them all the best of luck. Hearing this inspires Youta and he plans on giving it his all so he can win the tournament to impress her. Unfortunately in the start of the tournament, Youta plays atrociously making his hand go bankrupt in just two hands. He then recalls the advice that Hina and puts it into play making him rebound. Continuing to follow the advice that Hina gave him before the game, Youta manages to win the tournament.
Sitting alone backstage with his trophy, Youta is approached by Kako who tries to seduce him into returning to his room after the victory party. However, Youta rejects her, stating that he's in an unrequited relationship with another woman. Not taking this rejection well, Kako loses her temper and has her bodyguard try and apprehend him, which in the process tears off left sleeve of his father's suit. Managing to escape the bodyguard, he regroups with Hina and Ashura, learning that Kyouko had left earlier and that 13 days until the end of the world remain.
